Hey everybody.

I finally have my rust pics up on the web. I need some advice on how to fix this before I put down rhinoliner over the whole interior. I also have a rust spot on the vertical metal between the front and rear floor pans. Can I patch these holes or should I get new panels put in?

    Thanks.
Edited by Panther on 01/04/02 10:47 AM.

Looks like you might want to use an air nibbler to cut out all the cancerous metal, and then tack in new pieces... Looks like its already come in all the way thru the underside of the body... that sucks...

Cut it, patch it, Rhino line it. Done! [IMG] Have fun with that one! [IMG] Get some pics up of the final product!

I agree with Dan, cut out the rusted spots and weld in new panels. My 82 was completely rusted out at both seatbelt anchors and all the way across the verticle piece. I couldnt find replacement panels so I just fabbed some out of .080 steel. Its really pretty simple. And if youre gonna Rhinoline it, it doesnt have to look real pretty.

Also, when I did mine I doubled the steel around the seatbelt anchors for extra safety and just welded a nut on the backside to screw the seatbelt bolt into.

CHeck out my pics at bens87toy.alloffroad.com Shows you all the rust I had to deal with and what I did. My first time welding and doing this sort of project, not too shaby if you ask me. I also did the same thing for the seatbelt bolts. 1/2 lock nut, 1/8" flat bar for added strenth, all welded to the patch which was 16 guage.

Not as severe as mine was, I ended up cutting out the rust in the pillars and floor and fabbing myself the parts, because I couldn't find them anywhere. Good luck!

The Driver side pillar(PT # 466743) is still available from the dealer ship. Unfortunatley the pass is not. You might want to run Pt# 466744(pass side) because sometimes gm will run parts again. If not Auto Body Specialist sell repo parts for those areas of Blazers. Good luck
