Why does the upper quarter panel rust where it meets the roof (behind door)? Any suggestion on fixing and keep from rusting out again.

On my '74, water gets under the old seal and sets there until I take off the top or it stops raining for a couple of weeks. My old seal acts like a sponge and holds water. I think a new seal would help allot. Mine has a hole on each side about the size of a quarter. Keeping the area dry and covered with good paint is gonna be my effort.

Rust sucks. especially before they started using galvanized steel. My only suggestion is that when you first see it, treat the area with the mueric acid or however you spell it, and then paint the area over FAST. It doesnt matter if you use black spray paint, as long as it creates a seal.
