Would a 70 have disc brakes on it? Also how about the u-joint size. I know there are certian years that used smaller u-joints in the front axles, and I know some had drum brakes. Any help is greatly apriciated. I found a great deal on one. Or is a 71, 72, or 73 a better choice, because I have a line up on those as well?

    Re: ?s on a 70 k5

They used the small U-joint axle shafts thru '72. '71 was the 1st year of front disc brakes. But both of these may have been changed on a '70 by now. My '70 had a disc brake 1/2 ton front axle in it when I bought it 12 or so years ago.

72 is the last year for first gen. 73 came with the larger 297 Ujoint axels(new body style introduced). The larger axels from 73 and up will slide into 69-72 Dana44 fronts.Very easy upgrade.
    Good luck

I love the first gens, and I like the 73-75s as well, but really want FI. So I amtrying to decide if I should get a topless k5 or a FI one.
