Sacramento, California... Really, how is it to live there?

There's a job opening within my company there. I'm just wondering about it.

How much annual income would be enough to buy a decent house (rural OK) and raise a family on?

I don't want to work for someone else forever, but reality is that I have to for at least a while... I might as well always keep an eye on the best options...

Ummm, it's okay if you like lots of people, outrageous house prices and brown air.

Sac actually has nice location and there's a lot of stuff to do around town, outside of town and you are really, really close to the mountains. What is it, about an hour's drive to the Rubicon? Prairie City OHV Park is right outside of town, that's where the VORRA races stages half of their season, and it's probably two hours way from Hollister. There's a boatload of stuff to do in and around Sac for probably almost every interest you might have.

Outside of those top three minuses, I would recommend a relocation to Sacramento. About the only real minus that I didn't mention is you would be really close to that hi pinion dude............. :haha:

Actually, if you go east of Sacto to Auburn, Rocklin, Folsom, etc. it is pretty nice. For those of us in Cali, that area is really reasonable for home prices. If you are coming from out of state, they will still seem high. The area is pretty though and it is very close to the Rubicon as Bubba said. I tried to get the missus to move up that way for a while on some acreage but she cheesed on me. Rocklin is growing like crazy and has all the amenities. Sonora is a nice area too. It is predominantly white folks which can be good and bad. Let's just say that there are certain green leafy and off-white crystalline substances in abundance.....

Well Ratch if I were you I'd buy a big cardoard box, move to Cali save your dough, sell said cardboard box for living space for 6.2 mil, quit said job and move to Washington, buy 500 acres build your dream house and buy as many toys as you can get your hands on. Like every other fauker....I'm sorry did I just say that out loud....?:haha: :haha: :haha: :doah: :wink1:

My Wife talked Me in to moving to that focking sh!t hole back in 99 and I hated that place with a passion. I swear it was like a crappy city in the middle of bum fock no where. Oh and then there is the heat oh my is it ever friggin hot. Then there is the traffic and stupid on top of dumb people who have no clue as to how to operate a motor vehicle or how to use a turn signal. I really wish that a massive bomb would drop in the middle of Sacramento and lay waste to that festering sh!t hole of a city.

I agree with Corey, Sac sucks monkey balls. But, there are some places not too far that are just friggin awesome. Grass valley, Placerville, Folsom, Auburn, basically all those gold mining towns are awesome with both history and beauty. And the Sac and American rivers are right there. I'd give my left nut to live up where Dale's (surpip) folks live, not far from Sutter's Mill, if I could make the $$$ I make in San Francisco/San Mateo. One bonus of Sacto that has been mentioned is the proximity to EVERYTHING, 'cept lame asss SoCal. (J/K socal guys, I just prefer NorCal). You can go fishing, hunting, pheasants, whitewater rafting, go pan some gold, wheel, hike, camp, snowski, waterski, you name it, and you probably don't even have to drive more than an hour and a half. And, if you wanna go to a 'real' city, San Francisco, which is great as far as big cities are concerned, is only bou 2 hours away. And Reno 'aint too far either. In any case I'm sure it beats New York, hands down. Not that I have ANY basis for that opinion, but I'd put money on it.
