I'm still on the edge of why they bothered with a trial... It's laughable to hear he'll appeal; like he's just Joe Schmoe convicted of shoplifting...

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- In a world sharply divided on Iraq since the U.S.-led war began in 2003, Saddam Hussein's death sentence Sunday unleashed fears of fresh violence, European condemnation of capital punishment and new questions about the fairness of the tribunal that ordered him to hang.

"If Saddam is condemned to death, then they must make it fair and sentence Mr. Bush to death ... and they should send Israel's Ehud Olmert to death, too, because of what he did in Lebanon," said Ibrahim Hreish, a jeweler in Amman, Jordan

"Who will punish the Americans and their lackeys who have killed many more people than Saddam Hussein?" asked Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, a senior lawmaker from the Mutahida Majlis-e-Amal coalition, which is critical of Pakistan's military cooperation with the United States.

Inevitable, but still makes me want to puke.

Its an automatic appeal. No choice in that. Most places have them for death penalty because it has a tendency to be permanent. ;)

I'll believe it when it actually happens....Like say in another 20 years. This guy will give up the ghost from old age before they hang him...

I didn't know that, but the whole trial ordeal just seemed surreal to me in the same way. My sense of justice is aching that this guy gets the courtesy of a trial, meanwhile the trial is a dog and pony show. I'm not against due process, but it just seems stupid.

They should "long rope" him the first time.. just for chits & giggles. Let him hit the floor in disbelief .. LOL. Then string him up..

I don't think they will kill the guy so soon as 30 days. The Kurds want their trial finished to. This conviction/sentence was for killing 148 Shiites. That makes Shiites happy, but the Kurd case is all about Saddam using chemical weapons on Kurd villages and killing thousands. The Kurds want the story heard on the world stage... as it should be. If they guy gets executed before that trial finishes, it'd be sorta like sweeping that crime under the rug.

Personally, I think it would have all worked out better if the grunts who found him in that hole had shot his ass or tossed a nade in with him or something... but oh well.

Not sure what that clown in Jordan is talking about. Saddam killed way more people than the US has since W has been in office. Mr. Jordanian Store Owner guy also seems to have no moral compass either... I mean its not just the numbers killed... but WHY they were killed. Saddam killed people to solidify his own power and in his quest to be the dominant force in the middle east (hence his 8 year war with Iran and the invasion of Kuwait etc). All those deaths were for just one thing: Saddam's ambition/power. When the US kicks someone's ass, its generally for a much better reason (lets go ahead and forget about WWI for now!).

Call me sick, but I want to see his worthless ass dangling from a tree. The sooner the better... Leave him there to rot for a few weeks

I would say lock him up with daily torture for the rest of his filthy life, but then all the Liberals would cry till the end of time :doah: So for all of us sane people's sake, kill the bastard

Carl I think it takes a certain type of person to "Torture" another being and I fully believe that those who wish it,could not and would not under any circumstances perform it...

He sure seemed to do a good job of being unnaturally cruel, there must be someone willing to do the duty...

I wouldn't do it personally... But someone needs to
