Safest Steering Wheel

Discussion in '1969-1972 K5 Blazer | Truck | Suburban' started by **DONOTDELETE**, Mar 12, 2001.

Any steering wheel choice that provides greater safety?

Safety, as in keeping you from being impaled if you crash and your body slams into it? There are a number of relatively good wheels on the market with good hubs that bend or partially break away. The major problem is in the steering column itself (it doesn't break away like in the later trucks and cars). I've been in a high-speed wreck with a Momo steering wheel and hub in front of me, and I was not hurt (although I never impacted the wheel, since I was pretty well strapped in).
