Here's the deal, my k5 will not start in the mornings, I crank it til the battery is dead, then it starts fine with jumper cables, runs and starts sweet all day and night, next morning no start.
I thought at first...ignition module, but if this was dud, then it still wouldn't start with a jump, right? Next I thought of condensation in the dist cap, thats fine, I've checked all wires and fuses, but there is no spark, This sounds weird I know, but it'll start with a jump, what the heck is wrong? How can it spark normally with a jump?

Sounds like something is grounding and draining the battery. When you try to start it in the mornings it has some juice to try to start but not enough to crank it and turn over the starter. When you jump it it has enough juice then to fire up. It runs all day and charges up. But then you park it over night and the whole process starts over again....

Yes, but it cranks as normal, but I can't hear it trying to fire.

Sounds like the battery is weak and in the morning it needs a little more kick than it has to start the cold motor. Let it sit in the truck over night then take the battery to get tested.

    That's because I'm the devil.

hom much cranking do you get out of the battery? It should take awhile to kill it. If its not turning it fast enough, it won't even try to fire really. Cheap (low CCA) batteries will make a vehicle a pain to start. Check your alternator as well, just put a voltmeter on the battery as its running to make sure its putting out enough juice. Try it with a full load (headlights on, heater on high) and make sure its over 12. Doens't sound like alternator though since you get a jump start and it runs fine all day. More than likely battery.

Hey thanks, It cranks for quite a while, I haven't had this truck long, it's an 85, truthfully the battery looks original hahaha, I'll change it. If it cures it good, if not I've a new battery anyway.

And you do pump the gas once or twice before starting right? Gets expensive throwing $45 a pop at a problem..no reason to throw a good battery away. Just borrow a friends battery and see if it does the trick. If it does, then get your own! lol

Hook the battery charger up to it BEFORE you try to start it in the morning. If it starts right away, then I think that means the battery.
