what's the most likely cause of this, and what do you do about it, it cranks fine, but it won't spark, where do you start checking for missing spark?
Edited by coolhandluke on 12/21/01 12:50 PM.

Depending on what type of distributor you have, check to make sure you have juice going to the coil. Check your coil, and if everything is good, pull the boots off one at a time and hold them next to the block, it's easier if it's a little dark, and see if you have fire through the wires, you might also want to check wire resitance. How are your spark plugs? How is your distributor cap and rotor if it's cracked or corroded, it could definately create some havoc! It soulnds like you have lost the juice, check form the coil back all the way to the battery, just remember, you have to have power to it. And most impotant, don't overthink it.

How long did you crank it for? It could be that the gas in the line from the tank to the engine evaporated. Is there any sign of gas going to the intake?

I've definetely got gasoline flowing, just no spark at the plugs

83 k5 originally diesel, now 350, 700-R4 12 bolt rear, 33x12.50 BFG Trails (yuck), desperately seeking a lift
