Wow, first time here! Anyone own a Saturn and replace an automatic window crank? I can't get the damned door panel off!

That jeep thing? Yah I understand it....... Like my Blazer? http://community.webshots.com/user/blazerk5

Jim,
What year Saturn do you have? I have a '98 coupe and have had my door panels off a couple of times (speaker install & amp hookup.) If yours is a '97-2000, they should be all similar. I can describe to you how to do it or scan in the pages from the FSM (I have the 3 volume set.) Let me know.

Jeff.

PS: It would probably be easier if you just bought my Saturn off of me rather than fix yours. Mine's in perfect condition. I'll make you a sweet deal. :-)

I can kind of describe mine (may or may not be helpful.) It seems to me that there were about 3 screws on the face of the panel. #1 underneath the little plastic cap where the cable control for the mirror is. #2 in the door pull. #3 in door handle/lock assembly. There were two of those 2-piece plasitc rivets on the edge of the door. On mine, I then had to disconnect the lever for the inner door handle and door lock. Mine was electric so I had to unplug it too. Then remove the handle/lock assembly. Once all of those are out, you have lift up on the door panel and then pull out. As it is held in by some vertical hooks on top of all the damn screws. Thoroughly confused yet? Hope something that I said was helpful.

Jeff.

BTW, missed your chance on just buying mine and saving yourself the trouble. Sold it this morn.

LOL! I love Saturns! LOL! Twiz is correct, you must take the door skin off. Sounds insane I know but.....

There are a bunch of bolts around the door in the jamb area. DONT lose any! They have shoulders on them, and if you replace it w/ a regular bolt the skin wont be able to expand and contract like its supposed to from heat and cold, and will buckle. Basicly you will drive it in the morn. and it will be fine, you come out at lunch and the door will be buckled till it cools off. These are funny little rides! I am going from memory, I think the outside door handle comes off from the underside of the handle, then take the skin off. The 1st time I worked on one of these I laffed thru the whole job. I put 2 door skins, a rear 1/4 panel, and the rear bumper on in less than 2 hrs! Everything bolts on!

I dont come to this forum often, shoot me a P/M if you need anything.

LOL! No Twiz I didnt lose any. I had heard it thru others thats what happens, so I made sure I didnt lose any.

I dont have any WTFDTGT stuff. Honestly! I will look forever to figure out where something came from. I do have a bunch of stuff from used parts, clips and such. I will normally strip out used parts and clips for the obscure stuff that you cant normally get. Like wiring pig tails for lites that will get blasted in a wreck, The tapered bolts that hold in door latches, and shouldered bolts that go to GM truck hood hinges and stuff like that.
