Well Steve Fox of course started it all. I remember Canmore, thatk30guy and Chevyfumes way back when. There were a lot more but most have not been on in years. The original site consisted of one page and that was it. All the post and replies were right there you just scrolled down through them, you didn't click on a thread and have another window open. There was a photo gallery and most people had one pic of their ride and that was about it, and yes it was only page. There was no keeping track of post no avatars or sig lines and no Mods other than Steve. None of that stuff started until Feb 2000 when We went big time. I think there was less than 50 people when I started. People sometimes wonder why Me and Canmore talk to each other like We do. Well if they had to put up with that focktard since 98' they would probably have an attitude as well:wink1: :D

Yup, Corey's got it right. Way back when, there were literally 100 members and, believe it or not, it sometimes took 2 or 3 days to get an answer to a question. I believe there was only one forum, and new posts didn't bump a thread to the top of the pile- you actually had to go back through the listand find your thread to see if anyone had replied. I can remember the very first CK5 controversy, when Steve changed the code so that new replies to a thread would move it to the top, and a whole bunch of guys wanted him to change it back.

There have also been some memorable characters that we've met along the way. A few worth mentioning are buttman, sammy/tallgirl, and of course, TIMMAY!!!!

As far as longterm members go, there are VERY few of us left from the old days. 3 of them have replied in this thread. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few others that are still around, if only part time - Rob85K5, Burt4x4, Esteban86K5, bigjbear and of course, the king of brochures, dremu. I know I'm missing a few, but those are some of the names that come to mind right off the bat.

It's kind of wierd to think that I've visited CK5 daily for almost 7 years. Wow!!!! :yikes:

I remember the first "Soapbox Speaker" was NJ SAR Guy and the first female member was Michigan Blazer. Both long since gone.

robzilla is still here too, but he sticks to the local AZ board. Keith was still here until a few months ago when he parted his K5. I've been known to disappear for long stretches of time, but always seem to come back. Grim-reaper has a 4Runner now, but his old '74 "Dollar" belongs to someone else on here now. Depdog still had his K5 last time I talked to him, but was doing more RC stuff. That's it for the original Atlanta group back. It was '98 or '99 I guess when the site first appeared as described above. We got together for a trail ride at Tellico not long after that.

How many of you old-timers still have the truck you signed up with? I've still got my '80 GMC Jimmy and I'm starting to put it back together after a failed experiment of trying to have two at once.

I wonder what ever happened to "executioner".

I've been here a while too. Lurked for a year or 2 before ever registering a username.

    I'm still here!

Now I feel Loved!!!;) Almost 7 seven years, I still come here daily but only post on occasion when I feel I can add to something.

Things changed a couple years ago, with the thousands of members we have, where opinions and attitudes answered questions more than direct answers to peoples questions.
One of the things that has kept my post count down is weeding through 10 bs posts telling someone not to do something, or calling them an idiot. When I read something like that I usually just turn it off and come back the next day...

Anyway, whatever happened to the first SledDog and the first White Knight from TX,
