If I get that scoggin dickey 350 for 1298. what intake/carb setup, plus headers will produce the best power????
any one have this motor yet. the web site claims 240 hp and i have read that if I change cam it voids warranty. but I was figuring that the warranty would be a pain in the arse to use since it is all done by mail! any info would help my desicion need to get b-4 dec 31.

I just ordered mine today! [IMG] I was going to make the exact same post but you beat me to it. Hopefully we get some replies. So what's the best setup for low end torque?

I'm running a performer intake (non-egr) and a performer 600 man. choke carb. I changed the cam out after running the stock one for about 1000 miles. I used the comp cams 4x4 extreme cam P/N 12-235-2 not sure about hp and torque numbers but it has a heck of a seat of the pants feel!!! I'm running el'cheapo dynomax headers and a 2.5 true duel with H-pipe , super turbos and high flow cats. Sounds good, idels nice and pulls like a mule. I would recomend this motor for anyone who wants a good basic motor with a little punch.

BTW my fuel economy went up 5 mpg over my weak 305 with this motor

I was looking at that same cam. Isn't it best to put the cam in while the engine is brand new?

doesn't make a differance to the eng as long as you follow the proper break in procedures for the cam when installing it. It is ezer to install it before you put the motor in to the truck. But i was stubbern and tried the stock cam first

    A few notes...

I am planning on buying this same engine for my xmas present. I am planning a edelbrock performer intake (EGR), new HEI, rebuild q-jet (my own), and edelbrock TES headers with AIR. I am planning on keeping the same cam but installing new Comp Cam 1.6 ratio roller tip rockers. This will give extra lift without changing the cam. This setup will squeeze as much out of this engine with warranty as I can. In addition, it will bbe built right so that when the warranty is up and I swap the cam, everything else will already be built.

Only thing that sucks for me is that I live in TX and must pay tax!

I had this engine in my old truck. I swapped out the CAM, put in a high volume oil pump, Edelbrock Performer Intake and Holley 600 CFM carb. I was very pleased with the engine. Especially since I upgraded from a 305.
