Just swapped 76 K20 running gear into my 87 blazer. The noise started off and on and has grown to a pretty bad screech from my front left. Could it be my wheel bearings? hubs? Not sure where to start?
Thanks

UPDATE ! ARQ and I went through the front and yes i blew the hell out of my front left....bearings were trashed .. it was ugly in there. Better yet it was fairly EASY.
The really cool thing was that after we got some pizza and a beer we got motivated and took the top off.

MAN TOPLESS IS THE WAY TO GO !!!!!!

DON'T KNOW IF I'LL EVER GO BACK.

MANY THANKS TO MY MAN ARQ WHO HELPED ME OUT!

Sounds like the wheelbearings. Jack up the left side and try to shake the wheel.

Or the wear indicators on the pads have come into contact with the rotor.

If it is the bearings I would not drive it until it was fixed.

OK, so what parts will I need for this swap? Will I need Hub bearing assembly or just the Front wheel bearings? Also will I need seals. I will be getting the parts form autozone so I need to know what to ask for...thanks

Hey Jeromy, I wouldn't drive with that screeching noise at all. If it's your bearings, which it sounds like it is, you could damage your spindle if they lock up. Better get it fixed before you do any more damage to it. All you need is the bearings with races and the rear seal. Oh and of course the wheel bearing grease. It's a pretty simple job that should only take about a couple of hours max from start to finish doing both sides. If at all possible, take your stuff apart and take the parts to autozone to compare them. There's nothing worse than to be in the middle of a job just to find out that the idiots at the parts counter have given you the wrong part. good luck and let us know what it was.

Holy CRAP,
what up Esteban....

I barely made it home tonight. Didn't have too far to go so I decided to risk it...Well the damn thing was so loud and just a hidious scraping noise. Hopfully nothing is damaged. Of course Autozone had no inner bearings or seals. Pep Boys had none either. Looks like it is going to be a pain to find these parts. They are for a 76 K20.

Well I made it home at least...

Man, that does not sound good. Hate to say this but I can almost garantee that something is damaged. I've never heard a wheel bearing scraping within itself. Wheel bearings usually grind when they go out. It's probably frozen and what your hearing is it scraping on either the spindle or the hub. Maybe it's the rotor on your pads or something else. Go ripthat thing apart right now I'm curious to hear what you find.
