Hey folks, has anyone converted their old sealed beams to the newer style bulb-replacement like this one...

Got a set of the H4 type lights on my K5. They are awesome! Brighter light and better pattern, worth every penny. You can even get 130 watt bulbs for them. Buy them.

I put some halogen/seald beam ones on mine. The were about $15 each. It has a sealed beam housing and a halogen bulb inside (non-replacable). I like the idea of having seald beams because each time you replace the bulb you get a new reflector and glass with it for about the same price as a cartrage type bulb.

Thanks for your opinions, guys. Does anyone know if there is a big difference between the Hellas and a "regular" H4 conversion? I can't see why anyone would not want to do this upgrade. My halogens are bright, but I hear these conversion kits are 100% brighter.

I have the Hella's in my Supra. AWSOME! I can shut down a caddies high beams from a mile and on low beam I never get flashed. They have a far supior beam pattern than the Halogen replacemnt that I have in the truck. If I pull up to a wall you have a dead level line where the light cuts off on low beam. It has a little kick off to the right that lights up signs on the side of the road. Hit the high beams and WOW! flame throwers. I ran 90 100 for a while and Ohh man who needs aux lights. If you do go to a bigger bulb you need to put in better wiring. I used the factory wires as triggers for a set of 30 Amp Bosch Relay's and ran 10 gage right off the battery with a 30amp fuse. I have owned these headlights since 85 and they are the "for offroad use only" lights. That means european spec that does not have the DOT approval. Never had an issue. I just pull them as I sell a car and keep them till I have a car they fit. [IMG]
