seat belts

    i got a 90 gmc jimmy, my front seat belts never lock up, i was wondering if this is normal, and they also loosen up while driving they dont pull in very strong until you open the door

    A quick way to test them is to drive down the road a bit then hit the brakes kind of hard and let the inertia move your body forward. The belt should lock in place keeping you from doing a face plant into the dash. They have a weighted locking mechinism to allow you to move around freely until they are needed.

    The belts not retracting very well until the door opens is how they are designed. Makes for a more "comfortable" ride, in theory. You can normally pull out on them a little and let go and they will retract snug.
