The driver's side seatbelt on my '90 Jimmy has crapped out, it will not extend. The belts are discontinued parts from GM, I have a call into the local junkyards, but so far no help. Does anybody know of any sources besides JC Whitney? They are almost as popular as 4WPW here, or does anyone have a set of gray belts they would be willing to sell?

Just to help you out, and anyone that may attempt to pull belts for you, the Torx bit you might need (not sure if drivers uses any) is a T-47. Do not use a T-50 or T-45, the T-45 will likely strip out, and you'll really have to pound on a T-50 to get it to fit.

Can't remember but Cheyenne might sell them. Can't remember their website name though. Someone might know it. Don't like the part about discontinued. Last year spent 3 months hunting one up for my Bronco II (didn't want to pay $110 from the dealer) but couldn't find one and got it from the dealer anyhow, but at least they had it. Maybe that might work - use a whole setup from a Bronco or F150

Pop the plastic cover off of the seatbelt retractor and have a look inside. There's probably just something jammed in the ratchet mechanism. Those things are pretty simple. And even if you do screw it up, it didn't work anyway! [IMG]

And if they are interchangeable, (not sure what '90's belts look like, I know the rear is different than most earlier ones) I would make sure that the replacements you get have that "ratcheting" mechanism, where you can lock them just a bit loose so they don't choke you. I love that, but somehow my dad ended up with the non "locking" ones in his truck, and I can't stand them.

I just went to the dealer to get some of those seatbelt things that go on the floor, and you could only get the whole thing and it was $156. only came in gray I think...try a different dealer.

When you say the "whole thing" do you mean the seatbelts themselves??? If so, the dealer here said that they were discontinued [IMG]

Federal Law mandates that dealers must make prts for cars to ten years. So this is the last year the part will be available. Call a different dealer.
FYI this law covers other replacement items as well, like cartridges for printers.
