No, they are different in the older ones, mine attach to the piller on the side and the older ones maybe attach to the floor, don't remember for sure but when I was at the local bone yard none of the older ones were the same.

I don't think the older (pre 81) will work with Steve's 90. Didn't we find that the case when we looked in that salvage yard?

I'm not too sure Steve. Thats why I searched on 88 and newer. Can you throw a picture up here of what you need and I can see if it looks like mine? Maybe the others can look at theirs too.

Yeah, I love that place! Thats where I found my 4L80. Saves the hassle of calling.

Okay Steve. Since you said you were going to come over and help me install my heads, cam, supercharger and rear axle, I took the liberty of taking some pics of mine. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm pretty sure they are the same thing as what you have.

This is what's broken on yours correct? It won't retract?

    steve,

i had a problem with mine not retracting. what i did was removed the cover and messed with the retracting mechanism (not sure what it's called /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) and it started to work again. then i just sprayed some wd-40 and i haven't had problems since.

more that likely when you run with out the doors alot of dirt can get in there and cause it not to work properly.

I'm pretty sure 73-77 are the same.....
When GM changed the bed in 78'.....they re-designed the seat belts, I'm pretty sure 78-91 will work for you.....

The newer style also has a spring loaded plastic button that goes all the way through the body to the other side so when the door opens, the seat belt retracts.

Can everyone with a 78-85 look and see if they have these seatbelts? I know trucks and Suburbans are totally different.
