BTW, I can never keep straight who ran what times, but the Duramaxes are turning in times like that with Crew Cabs too. Seems like one of the guys is low 10s with a single cab, but I may be confusing the numbers. Anyone who cares about what the Duramaxes can do should check out MTomak and some of the other nut cases on TheDieselPlace.com or TheDieselPage.com.

Stock +$1000 or less and I'll take on any Cummins out there. But beyond that, your looking at trans upgrades and such, so the next level on a Duramax realistically jumps to around $4k+ if you want to go faster... The fastest probably have no more than $5k in upgrades though...

But truthfully, I can't knock the Cummins with a straight face, that's one killer engine. If only they would put an Alli 2k (or 2200) or real HD manual and clutch behind it and stop chocking it to death from the factory. Now THAT would be sweet. Of course if we start down that road, same could be said of the GM. Where would it end?

BTW, to keep this on target for the 4WD forum, these times in street driven 7500 lb Crew Cabs is only possible when you run the 1/4 in 4WD with around 5-600 rwhp and sround or over 1000 ft/lbs! /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

With a 12 valve, take out the muffler, remove the cam plate from pump, put in a 4000 rpm governor kit, a set of marine injectors, and run a free flowing air cleaner, your near or maybe above the HP of a chipped Dmax for about 700 or so bucks and have gobs more torque below 1500 rpm.

Another thing, maybe you can find out or already know....
How are the Dmax's doing in sled pulling. Its been a long time since I have kept track, but last time I checked there was not really much of a showing from GM or Ford diesels, wondered if that has changed now?

that was sick, my uncle used to have a shop next to a turbo place, all they did was rebuild them, you send in your turbo they would make it bad ass, people sent in turbo's from all over the country, annyway the guy who owned it had a dodge cummings power ram that did 11.55 in the 1/4. the truck actually got featured in mopar power mag, it was sick!!

Yeah, the 12v were much easier to turn up. From what I understand, they could get the numbers, but not hold them. The torque curve/peak looked like the Washington Monument. Very narrow power band from around 1.5k and fell off fast by 2k or so. The DMax makes lines that look like a table top (albeit a bumpy not quite level one) from around 2k up to nearly 4k (and beyond with a chip that removes or raises the limiter). So I'm pretty sure the DMax would still take the prize for the under $1k add-on range.

Mike (MTomack) runs 12 (or maybe below now, can't keep them straight) and also does well pulling in the same truck. And he drives "the truck" to all events with it's own support trailer in tow. However, from what I've read, the Cummins trucks still dominate pulling, but the DMax is taking a chunk of the glory but can't take the hill.

What powers the fastest (lowest ET) street legal diesel truck? Whats the ET? I suppose I could search for it, but I am at work and too lazy.

im sure most of you know but that is a cummins engine in that ford. it was fast as hell with the powerjoke but kept blowing things up and he wasnt keeping up with the dodges so he did a dodge transplant /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

we were there with my cummins and I about [darn] when this thing took off.
I thought my stuff was pretty quick but he made me look stupid.
its funny to watch the ford muscle car guys cheer him on but when they hear its a cummins they get all upset. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Don't know, but HVAC (that was his screen name) passed away. He's the first person I ever talked to and he knew a ton about Diesel performance.
