    doing a cross over conversion, need a 2wd steering gear, EXPENSIVE!
    anyone switch a 4wd steering gear sector shaft with a 2wd one? low budget alternative or mechanical nightmare?

    Thats exactly how I did mine Robbie. Had a different year 2wd box that the hoses connected differently on. So I took the pitman arms off of them and removed the 4 9/16 bolts on the top of the box, that cover and the shaft come out as one peice. Be careful not to tear up the seals. Mine bolted right back in with no problems. I made sure that both of them were in the center of their turning radius as well.
