I have a fresh 350 I am wanting to put in my 73 chevy truck. I dont have the old brackets and accesories, but I do have them from the front of a 88 chevy with the serpentine set-up
has anyone put this on an older motor? What do you do about the power steering box being old on the truck and newer on the box? What do you do about the lines? I also need to do something about the water pump, since it is reverse rotation. Will the serpentine pully fit on the old water pump? Anything else I should know about? thanks, Brian

IT'S A 1 TON THING.... IF I HAVE TO EXPLAIN IT, YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND!!!

There's at least one guy on there that has done this conversion on a c10.

You will definetly need the newer water pump cause it is reverse rotation. You'll also need to most likely change ps lines so you can hook it up to the older style gear box... but you can check and see for sure

You will have to use all the front accessorys off of the 88. I am running a serpentine setup off of a 93 truck on my 79 truck and it worked out great. you will need the Water pump, altnator, power steering pump, and the ac compressor off of the 88. you have to change the power steering lines. On mine I cut the steel line end off the high pressure hose that goes to the steering box off of the 88. Then I cut the steel end off of my 79's high pressure and used a compression union. It was a Sunday when I did this so I could not get a hose to correctly maked that day. You ownly have to cut the ends off if it is the older style steering box like my truck.

Brian, my TPI motor is an old 400 factory motor with the all new serpentine setup on it. The water pump has to be reverse rotation (not reverse flow) and I used the power steering pump off a newer truck. Pics on my site, let me know if you need anything specific taken a pic of. Go for it.

This is something I have also been interested in for some time too. Anyone else have comments on this? Does anyone know of a write-up?

I just installed the GM Kit this last week used the PS pump I had( all GM pumps seam to have the same bolt patern. The kit is really for the car not truck but fits fine. Has a new GM water pump and all the bolts and pulleys that are needed. By the way I bolted this up to a 400 SB with aftermarket heads and it went on like a dream.

Only thing I can say about serpentine is, if you lose a power steering line, you are going to toast the pump. I NEVER thought about that downside, until a friend lost a hose out in the woods. Not even off-roading, just way out of town, and had no choice but to drive the truck with no PS fluid. I don't think that is a positive. Then again, chances of that happening are...?

How much did that kit cost? Any "hidden" obstacles when installing it?
