I have a 88 K5 TBI. replaced the engine and went to set the timing, disconnected the brown wire with the black stipe in wiring harness, set timing to 0* as per code on truck, plugged the wire back together and timing jumped to 22*. Truck runs fine, idles great. Did I do this right? /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif

Yup sounds like it to me. The computer takes control of the advance when that wire is plugged back in.
