Finally found an upgrade for my 1/2 ton gear and need to know what I should do to get these preped. Should I go in and replace joints and everything or just clean them up and change fluids. There is no mechanical problems with them now, but I didn't know if I should go ahead and replace seals or anything.

For the rear if the brakes are good and the seals not leaking just change the lube.
the front I would replace the u-joints and since it apart repack the front bearings and change the lube.

Use Spicer's! The p/n is 5-297x for the old ones and there are some new ones (that are rumered to be stronger) 5-760x I think.

I would recondition as much as possible, including axle gear oil seals. I had assumed mine to be in good condition, but found out otherwise when I did some underwater fourwheeling. When I got home, my differential was filled with gritty water. Took quite a bit of work to flush it all out!
