Shackle flip without removing gas tank?

Discussion in 'OffRoad Design' started by **DONOTDELETE**, Aug 28, 2002.

I'm considering getting your ORD shackle flip for my K5. I noticed in the write-up that it mentioned that you need to remove the gas tank to install the bolts. Instead of removing the tank, would it be possible to remove the rear most crossmember to gain access to the the bolts instead?

It's typically easiest to just hinge the tank down around the front mounts, you don't have to totally remove it, just drop it enough to get some hand space. On my Sub, we were able to drop the front of the tank to get the access and it wasn't a big deal at all.

when i put my flip in i didnt want to hassle with dropping the tank. after spending about 2 hours trying to get the stock shackle off 1 side i stopped took a look at it and decided to drop the tank. it only took about 5 minutesand made the rest of the process WAY EASY. the only thing i will add though is that i have a 3" body lift i put in when i changed the body mounts.
