If all goes as planned, the bling won't last for very long. I think they will look better dirty and bashed up a little /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks good, but arent the shock mounts on the 14ff on the wrong side for a K5? Looks like a 1 ton axle.

Yah, I guess the post should have read "almost done." /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We are gonna do the shock mounts once the axle is under the truck. Basically, we ran out of time and didn't get the old ones off and then Dan got impatient for a photo-op cause it was getting dark /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

What a weekend...Completely rebuilt both axles. Every seal in the D44 is new, every bearing and race except carrier and pinion bearings are new. New calipers, pads, rotors, external hubs. New ball joints. New axle u-joints. Sand blasted, primed and painted.

The 14b has new hub seals, and new brake shoes. Relocated spring perches, shaved housing, and welded spiders. Also sand blasted. primed and painted. I think most of the time was spent cleaning...That frickin sand was everywhere. It was unreal where that stuff ended up. Saturday we worked from 10:00 in the morning till about 10:30 that night. Tonight we quit at about 8 or so. Cheryle probably made 10 trips to Kragen and Napa over the weekend. Hehe, I look like a damn tomato from the sunburn. Good [censored]. I definatley learned alot.

I'll caption the pictures too...
First picture- Gokartergo's "shop". /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Second- Shewheeler sandblasting the D44
Third- Sand blasted D44
Fourth- Me and my hat head cleaning the sand out of the 14b housing.
Fifth- Jethro-Lockt 14b spiders. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Sixth- Me teaching Shewheeler to pack bearings the old fashioned way.
Seventh- 14b shaving Jethro style. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif ~Disclaimer!~ Thats a 9" grinder with a worn out cut off saw wheel on it...DO NOT DO THIS! Although it's very fast, (I finished shaving it in 25-30 minutes) it's also extermely unsafe..Those wheels are rated at a max RPM of 4250. The grinder spins at 8000...Do the math.If the wheels explodes....It's bad. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

somebody is copying me /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif. Well my under truck accesories (shackle flip, front shackles, rear OTT truss, etc.) are actually painted with flourescent upside down hot pink spray paint and then clear coated for that extra shine I've got hot pink shock boots to boot So there! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif (and no, I'm not lying)

Looks good though /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif, any plans for a pink paint job on the truck? /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif
