The shifter handle is bent so that it doesn't hit the dash when you shift 'up'...

If you put a 3" body lift on the truck the bend will be below the body looking like a straight stick... also the steering knob will rest on the seat in 3rd..... and that means a female passenger will love you to death..... . TRUST ME THAT IS THE ONLY REASON WHY I WONT GET RID OF MY BODY LIFT !!!!!!
    Chrome Dont Get You Home...
and looking at my truck is definite proof...

I can't quick shift mine either and was going to check into it someday but I haven't had the time. Try this www.mrgasket.com/maincat.html
It's Hurst shifters download catalog. Let me know if you find anything.

I don't think there is anything that will make the SM 465 shift quickly or smoothly. It is a 'truck' 4 speed and will never shift like a T5 or any other car tranny no matter what you do to it.

I think you'd get more benefit from driving it for a while to get used to it. The fastest smoothest shift in the world will not change the wide ratio of the tranny. Technique and getting to know your truck will do more for you.
