If you suggested an idea to totally revamp a product to make it cheaper and more simple in a thread started by a vendor, and they never responded, but you found out today that they're now producing this design for an insane price, would you be pissed?

Granted, it was posted on the internet, so obviously I lose intellectual property rights, but it makes me mad thinking that I was never responded to, and the idea was taken and produced...for a ridiculous price no less.

You have the right to be, but it might not get you anywhere. Live and learn. As a vendor I am very careful about my designs. My tube doors are waiting for the design patent to go through along with some bumper designs. I try not to look at other vendors stuff that is similar to stuff I am trying to make...but everybodys stuff on here is so dam nice
Try contacting them and in a " freindly manner" ask them how your design is working for them.. and from now on you bring all your good ideas to me, I will give you plenty of credit.

Just for clarification, it wasn't any of the normal vendors on here. All vendors I've contacted through CK5 have been more than good to me.

The product is not something I'm capable of producing, nor do I know anyone who is. But god damnit, it woulda been nice to get a PM saying "is it ok" or "I intend to, would you like one with a few bucks knocked off?".

No good deed goes unpunished, and the 'vendor' in question is a dink IMO. Oops, did I say that publicly? :D

You retain all rights, but it's be a hard case legally

You're a good man, no? Be proud you wouldn't do the same thing.

Not worth legal pursuit. He could have come up with the idea on his own but it's highly unlikely considering the timeline.

Never would I do the same thing. Ever.

If it'll make you feel better, I'll show you the plans for my mechanocock and the dual orbital fuel supply for it!

    I think that's pretty funny

    I said "mechanocock"!

I'm too pissed to care at this point. It's Jesse at HAD. I wouldn't be so bent out of shape if I didn't need one.

I suggested a very simple way to the 14 bolt to Toyota flange much cheaper and more simple in a thread on Pirate. No response. Friend sent me a link to a thread today announcing the "new" version. Price is over 2.5 times the D60 and D44 flange. Reason being it's machined from a solid chunk...so are the D60 and D44 flanges, and the OD shouldn't be any greater so the same size stock is needed.

The only difference that's a possibility is that the flange needs to be "deeper" and there is an extra piece of plate in there. So if 1" of 4" OD round stock and 12 square inches of 3/8" plate cost $180, then suck me sideways, my K5 was worth eleventy billion dollars.
