i know a fella trying to sell this truck, it restored inside and out 0-rust!! it has a freashly built 350 w/ a b&m supercharger (new also) sm465/205 nice truck, here is the catch the flywheel flew off the motor after is had 1k on it, he pulled over and the truck was towed to a storage unit where it has sat for the last four years, he had no $ to fix it, he THINKS the crank is trashed but the truck has never even been looked at by a mech. he is desparate for cash and i think i could buy it for $3200. what do you guys think?

I myself whould not pay more then $1500 for it, Since it has been sitting that long, And does not run, Unless except for the engine it was ABSOLUTLY pristine! Thats my opinion and maybe just maybe, It's still worth $3200, But thats my two copper rollers for this subject.

mechanics--- does it mean the crank/block is trashed if a harmonic balancer flies off? even if the motor was immediately shut off?

I'd buy it! Of course I would say $2,000 and keep you supercharger... I don't see any reason for a supercharger on a 4x4. But If you could get the truck for 3 grand and it is in good shape and has good paint you could sell the supercharger for cash. The motor is probably not worth mess'n w/ depending on what rpm he lost the fly wheel at and after sitting so long... get a nice crate motor for it and there ya go!

Buy it! If the truck is truly all restored it is well worth 3200. All you will need is a motor. Offer 2000 first if he really needs cash and go from there.

Supercharger on 4x4=show and good looks, and lots of power on the road. Off road destroying parts.

If the harmonic balancer fell off I would think the assembler of the motor is a total moron and didn't install it right. Also possible causes are that it's a crappy one not capable of working on a blown motor. Either way I wouldn't trust the motor, I'd pull it out and rebuild it.

If you luck out, it may not have desroyed the crank. It would have to be disassembled to be sure. If the truck had a good restoration, it would easily be worth 3K.

I guess anything is possible like he might have forgot to tighten down the bolt, but somethings probably not right.

more than likely the bolts didn't receive the proper torque down . talk to a pro mechanic. other wise sounds like a ok deal
