    Should I buy this \'89 for $2000?

Its an 89 with a 6" lift, brand new procomp 35 muds, rebuilt 350, TH350 trans. Its still got the 10 bolts. A/C looks like it works, but blower doesn't blow. Interior is crap, but I can replace new. Top is good and body has zero rust. They wanted $4000 for it, but I talked them down to $2000 /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Steering is pretty loose, but mechanically it looks great. It needs paint but body is straight except for one very minor dent in the passenger fender. It needs a lot of TLC, but I've got 1 1/2 years until it needs to be my daily.

Well. The dealership is a newer truck dealership and this is just a burden to them. It was on "turkey row" in the back of the dealership. I was actually kidding when I said $2000, but they took it after I turned my back to them on $2500 /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I ran an carfax and the only thing that came up was true mileage unknown because its over 100,000. Its 185,000 actually /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif But like I said its really in good shape minus a little TLC. I just know how to push people's buttons /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Not to get your hopes up too high, but that looks more like 4" lift rather than 6".

    I would still buy it for $2K though. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Really? I've been in a blazer with a 4" and 35's and this one seems taller. The dealer said it was a 6", but who can trust them /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif No matter really, if this is a 4" its more then enough lift for me. Oh ya, it has headers too.

The dealership rebuilt it. Its a service center too. They even put a cam in it. Its still under powered because its got the stock gears, but its not that bad. Atleast its a 350 which is a good start.

Well it looks like I'm not going to get it. Too much work and too little time. I'm sure they'd still sell it for $2000 if anyone else gave them that offer. Its at Nelson Auto Group in Austin, TX http://www.trucksource.net

With a TH350 swapped in I would be carefull about it. If you have to do emmisions testing you could end up spand a big chunk of change if they swapped it to carb and yanked the converters. Looks good though. It has about $1200 worth of wheels and tires on it.

If you get that thing bought for $1000, won't you feel like you're stealing something? /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Jeesh, and I thought I found a good deal on a 76 w/ 2500miles on a new motor and tranny for $1500. Even so, I still think my deal is a good deal too. But yours is insane!

I brought my 88 for 2500 its stock except exhaust and tires. The interior it hella clean too. The only bad is it has 160k miles on the orignal engine. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

Here is a pic, its alittle muddy though.

See, that's the opposite of what I'd be looking for. I can do interior/exterior work, and replace parts here and there, but I can't rebuild engines or trannys. So what I've been keeping my eye out for was a truck with as fresh a motor and tranny as possible, anything else I can fix myself. Heck, that's half the fun of owning one!
