I'm looking at several chokes all on the same type of carb 4BB qjets from 77-78 divoriced choke. I find that some have springs as in this picture

and others in my collection have no spring. Did all come with springs or were the springs removed?

I don't think they all had the spring. I recall seeing them both ways.

im not suire which spring you are referring too

    the choke one ?

the spring for thast type of carb in that pic is mounted on the iontake manifold and a rod runs up from that to the linkage on that carb righ there in thast pic is the lever with slot hole in it for the top of the rod end the slot if vertical cut you cant miss it, it is for the rod from intake mounted spring, all of these carbs had one and the rod

these were used on cars ands trucks both, mainly all mid 70s like 73-78

i dont like them at all, i like to put on electric choke ones in place of these, even thoguh you can buy this type of spring for these for cheap at parts store, botg warner boxed ones, auto zone and such, i even have one laying around, unused brand new, i dont use these carbs i have a couple laying around im trying to get rid of,

    good luck

I *think* he's talking about the one that is on the rod coming out of the diaphram in the picture.

Yes .. I have several 17058213 carbs for a 78 chev truck. I find that some have the spring coming out of the diaphram and others don't. I'm not sure if these had the spring original since I got the carbs all ready pulled-off.
