    SM465/205 Adapter availability ???\'s

I have a SM465 and 205 combo. When I pulled the trans/tcase combo out of my truck, the adapter was cracked. I have (unwisely I assume) thrown the adapter away and am looking for another one.

Any sources out there of adapters (or if anyone is in the SLC area--I really want a 700R4/241 combo as I have swapped in a 350/205 combo that the 350 needs a nice freshening)

I don't know of a source besides the wrecking yards..maybe GM still does make them..they might, the 205 was avaialble at least until 1982, and the 465 till much later...I would really like to see someone start making billet(?) adapters..these things seem to break kinda often..the combo I bought had a broken adapter, cost me $100 from the wrecking yard!! Not that I could wait and find a replacement, but still, if I'm willing to pay $100 for a used cast one, I would pay at least $150 for a billet one.

I don't know where to get a replacement adaptor, but I can relate. I skyed my truck pretty good a year or so ago and when I got home noticed a puddle on oil. I guess the front driveshaft compressed as far as it could when I landed and then the adaptor took the rest. Mine had a 3" long crack.
I tryed finding a replacement because that would have been easy, but had no luck. So I took my cracked adaptor to work and welded up the crack with some NiRod. Worked like a charm. Kinda finicky to weld though.

After completing my doubler I would be willing to sell you mine. It will be about another month though

I thought I was wrong once,
    but I was mistaken

I think Parts Mike can sell you the adapter, along with other NP205 parts that you may need, such as input shafts with different spline counts etc. Check with him.

I had the same problem. i needed a 208-465 off an 83 truck. looked everywhere, and i mean everywhere(3 states and 2 countries) then i found a little add in four wheel and off road mag. there called Performance gear and they had the adapter. even he said it was one of hte toughest to find but he had it so i would think he would have the 205-465. the number for performance gear is 601-796-2026
p.s. they were pretty cool too. even worked with me on the price
