Just went to the 4 wheel parts warehouse here in OKC and ordered a Smittybuilt prerunner bar for my 79. According to them they are discontinuing that style for the 73 to 80 years Chevy. They had two in stock so I got one and Chris, a K5 fanatic who if you want to know what will or what wont work and where you can get it, he's the one to ask, ordered the other for himself (he's the only one I deal with here). I've looked at all the other manufacturers, and Smittybuilt seems to be the only one who makes one for this year group. Anyone know who else makes one???

I hunted for one of those a while back, I ended up ordering one from carparts.com them they sent me an e-mail and said they weren't going to be able to get one until 2001 and they canceled my order. I gave up on it then and I am going to try to make one in shop class this year I will let ya'll know how it goes. Procomp also makes a prerunner style bumper for blazers, for an 88 atleast. Lets see some pics when you get them!

I have had the Smittybilt Pre-runner for a couple of years now. I like the looks of the bumper. I built a front receiver hitch so I can mount my winch either front or rear. The mounting is kinda flimsy but it works OK. I removed my factory bumper and just installed the pre-runner. I trimmed the front fenders for a better look. Check my site at http://www.mudzer.coloradoK5.com and you can see pics of the bumper.

The bar won't be here until next Thursday and trust me it'll be on Thursday night. I'll get the dig camera out and post pic's Friday.

Do you have a part number for 4-wheel parts for that bumper?

They shouldn't be too hard to make. One of my friends made one for his ranger.

Hey could you hook me up with some pics of your friend's bumper and maybe his e-mail address? I would like to see how he did it and talk to him. Did he mount it over the stock bumper or take the stock one off? How did he mount it? Thanks!

He took the stock bumbe off and used 2 steel tubes on the bottom and made the bars at the top somehow with 2 lights on top. It doesn't look like something he made, looks really good. I'll try to get pics.

nothing on JC whitney or on Smitty's site, hell they dont sell anything older than 95 it looks like.

there are a ton of 74-87 pickups and Blazers out there, i dont see why stuff like this is so hard to find.

Smittybilt does have a bumper protector that would be perfect if they made on for our applications.

Why not ask one of the vendors to make you one it would probably be cheaper than a ****tybilt anyway :doah:
