Sneak Peek at Az-Kickin\'s upcoming E-Brake Kit

To answer some of the questions I know that will be asked:
    1. We have not determined the pricing.
    2. We are not sure how long before this is available, we are waiting on HarryH3 to test it for us.
    3. Kit will include the levers springs and mounting plates. Some people may have to replace the outter U-Bolt if they don't have enough thread to accomadate the 3/8" thick mounting plate.
    4. Cables will be sold seperatley since everyone has different setups. We will have cables listed by length on our website so you can choose by length. The length of the cables(not the conduit) may need to be shortened.
    5. We don't think this kit will work with any bracket other than ours due to the bolt pattern, and for those who installed the bracket 45 degrees up and towards the rear will have to move the bracket so if points forward.

Hopefully in time we will be able to retract that statement, but there is a certain amount of geometry involved for the cable to pull the lever in an arc. After we are in production we will work with people that have different brackets to see if they will work, but for now we have to concetrate on making it work with ours.

    2 things:

    A) my brackets point to the back at about 15 degrees (equivalent to yours in angle)

2)I have upside down u-bolts due to my overloads

So I still have to say Damn!! Nice work tho /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif

Without mesuring our caddy levers compared to the new ones, I don't know.......but I serioulsy doubt it. We designed this lever so it would pull up instead of down so I think there would be a clearence issue. As far as volunteers.....we haven't gotten that far /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

This kit is used in conjunction with the caddy calipers.

Nice work Sean/Bill! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Looks like another high quality offering from Az-Kickin! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

As far as other brackets go, I would make this suggestion. Can the other disk brake bracket suppliers supply Az-Kicken with a detailed drawing of their brackets? You guys would be able to compare brackets if you had the specs on all the brackets out there.

Being a product designer/CAD guy by profession, I can get you a drawing of the Echobit bracket with the permission of Mike(BorregoK5)if one isn't available. I would just take my bracket and reverse engineer it. I could fax a print or e-mail a file in IGES, Parasolid, Soliworks, DWG, DXF or any other format. Just a suggestion......it may make things a bit easier. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yeah I think if I was to see drawings of other kits we could determine what would and wouldn't work.

Wow! That looks just like the stuff that was in a box that the UPS guy dropped off at my house. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif But alas, I was out of town all last week, so I just got a chance to open it up and look at all the neat stuff inside the box today. But WOW!!! There is some very cool looking stuff in that box!!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I plan to get started on the install tomorrow and will take plenty of pics for the write-up. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I just don't understand why my levers aren't that purty yeller like the ones in the pics... /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif

Ain't nothing better than opening a box from Az-Kicken. You should allow for a few extra hours install time...you'll need to wipe up the drool. Bill and Sean do some of the best work I've ever seen!

I'm sure these arms will be much more effective than the stock Caddy arms...

Re: Sneak Peek at Az-Kickin\'s upcoming E-Brake Kit

One thing I just noticed is that this kit is obviously for '73-up trucks with the 42.5" spring perch spacing. One tons and those of us with '72 and older 4X4 trucks will need a different bracket that bolts to the u-bolt.

Spring perches are generally 2.5" wide, so extending the bracket legs, that have the u-bolt holes in it, another 1" and adding a 2nd set of holes may make the bracket universal. Just a thought........ /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Those who are using a van 14BFF.....well, that is another can of worms. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

How much backspacing is needed to clear? Or is it so far inboard it's not an issue?

We don't think backspacing is going to be an issue, the bracket only hangs off the spring pack by about an inch.
