Has anyone tried rigging up a military Hummer style snorkel set up?? That'd actually be kinda cool...cause you could run it in the "low" position, where the intake is basically hood-height, on-road or you could add a section of piping to it to make it taller, when you need to ford deep water.

All you'd have to do is cut a hole in your hood. If you mounted it in hummer-position (back corner of the hood) you wouldn't have to design anything TOO ingenious to make it so it'd stay intact when you opened/closed the hood...maybe have a section of dryer hose in there somewhere, its flexible and can stretch...

I think I'll take a look at my Jimmy and see what I can think of. A setup like that wouldnt cost much...be TOOOOO hard to do...or be an eye-sore. May look wierd when you had the snorkel tube attached, depending on what you used I guess, but on-trail, no one gives a rip anyway. The weirder something looks, the more interested your 4x4 buddies are anyway. =p

I built my own out of PVC pipe. Check it out in members rides page 14. Search for Thumper.
