So, mix a 454 with 3.73\'s and 37 MT/Rs burnout and [UPDATE WITH PICS]

THINGS BREAK...I agreed to entertain my friends with a smoke show as I departed a party this evening and what the got was a fireworks show /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif I revved my 454 to 4500rpm and dropped the clutch in first gear and with 3.73's and 37's it broke some stuff...I am used to popping the 1310 u-joint behind the 205 anymore, but tonight the YOKE gernaded into like 5 pieces and created a helluva spark show from what I hear..I will post pics tomorrow, but my butddies hung around and picked up the pieces..IT IS TOAST...Next think to tackle is a 4500rpm clutch drop on the front 10 bolt (with the rear d-shaft taken off) just before I swap in the D60 I have to put in..basically, just b/c I wanna see what will break and how badly..

another example of why you never do things in ur rig because either a) you're friends are egging you on to do it or b) you're trying to impress people.

All the blown up stuff and the busted 1310 against the 1350 that will be replacing it tomorrow...

I never said it was a good idea...usually when I do burnouts like the on last night I only bust a u-joint once and a while, but apparently the just paved the road I was on last night so the tires had mad traction..oh well...It not gonna stop me from smoking in up a bit every now and then, just hold me off till I get a new rear shaft in...

    1k worth of tires? 2 37 MT/Rs at Tirerack = about 350.

I think that his bigger problem with that picture is running 1310's, not that they are greaseable. With a setup like Chris has 1350's is a necessary step.

I agree...I even have 1350 joints in mine in the rear shaft because I believe that they're nearly required with a manual tranny.

However, if I was going to run a u joint that was too small, I sure as hell wouldn't be running greaseables.

yep..the 1350 yoke is on...and I am putting in an order tomorrow for a 1410 yoke for the 14bff (why not go bigger /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif) and a new d-shaft for 1410 at the axle and 1350 at the t-case....I realized today that my axle yoke is jacked up..so I am gonna swap it not to 1410 so it is ready to go once I save up some cash for one of Jesse's units...

from what i understand 1410 yokes/joints arent actually spec'd any stronger than 1350s, they just operate better at more extreme angles.

IMO, bigger is better and the 1410 joint is like .5" wider than the 1350 so why the hell not...the tangs on the 1350 yoke are jacked up so I need a new yoke anyhow...
