What do you do when all your regular extension cords are melting because of the large current draw of millions of little christmas lights? Well, if your an electrician, metal fabricator, and general master of overkill, you build the UBER CORD!!!

It all starts on my power panel where I added a custom GFCI protected Hubbell 50 amp 4 pole outlet in weather proof NEMA 3 enclosure. Then comes the UBER CORD! Male end is a matching Hubbell 50 amp 4 pole connector. The actual cord is a 6/4 SOOW cable that is 135 feet in length. The female end is a NEMA 3, rain tight key locked enclosure with 16 20 amp Leviton Industrial recepticals. 8 on one 50 amp circuit, 8 on the other.

    Master of overkill signing off...

I will. I've been having problems keeping them going from the previous cord problems. So tomorrow night it should be nice and bright /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Biggest problem is, we had a huge wind and rain storm on Monday and it destroyed about 1/3rd of the lights and other things. So it's only 2/3 of what it used to be /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif. Next year I plan on needing two of these cords though /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Damn /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif Did you have to wire it directly into the power lines so it wouldnt melt the meter too?

And how ong did it take you to:
organize them all from last year?
    put all these up?
and how long to take them all down?
And are you going to scan your power bill for us?
And is that an extension cord I see to your neighbors outside outlet?
