Go Can-Back, you only have to drill four holes, two on each bed rail and they get covered up with the hard top anyway. I have a review on this top in the review page. A little pricy but the best quality out there.

I hope they still are...I ordered one two weeks ago. I talked to Richard when I ordered it and he said indeed they were going to stop making them but they've had enough interest (orders) in the last few months to reconcider

Hey Steve did you have to drill into the tailgate

No tailgate drilling, it uses a strip of metal with snaps on it that has double sided tape on it, I have had mine over a year straight and no problems coming off or anything.
If you call, tell them you heard about it on CK5.

Talk to them. If they do let me know. 1100USD is a lot of "northern pesos"[IMG]

Got the truck for free, rust and all. 1100 is way out of my league. Might have to go for the Bestop

I bet for $500 bucks a boat shop could make you a top? I'd try them....I was asking around and found a place or two that will make a top for that cost. Not with the frame however. That's extra. Unless you can work a deal with them...it's worth a try! [IMG]

A boat top shop made my top for $400.00. For the frame, I cut an old hard top across the top behind the cab, and flat across at the back. The snaps are bolted into the frame, not in the body except for the tailgate, and Im sure if you were concerned, some sort of rail could be made for it with the snaps that can slide around.
    Heres a link to my site. <A target="_blank" HREF=http://sites.netscape.net/mikesthmpr/thumper>http://sites.netscape.net/mikesthmpr/thumper</A>

Thumper, my GF loves your truck man (as do I). Ever since I started takling about getting a soft top she's been trying to convince me to get one that looks like yours. Thinks all the other ones make it look like an old man station wagon [IMG]

I read a few weeks ago an idea on here for a soft top that sounds like the route I'll go. Gonna find an old top. Cut the middle out, leave the part that attaches to the cab and the back part that the window rolls up into. And leave like one support strip down each side. So basically, cut the top of it out, and the windows out(if you can picture this with my crap description...) I figure that way I can still take the top off but when I've got it on I'll be able to have my glass back window up instead of a plastic one. And I'm sure it'll be cheaper than a Canback(1200 bucks!!!! gotta be kidding me)
