Shewheelers fenders where rusted up. So she got a set at the junkyard..But they had a couple small dents and body trim she didn't want... So I took them off and welded up the holes.. A total of 18 welds on each fender.. What do you guys think????

Tell me more. I tried some a few months ago and when I got done, it sort of looked like my underwear after a night of pizza and beer.

I was using .030 wire on my mig. Should I have gone back to .025? Also, do you think having a magnet ground instead of clamping on the door frame would help?

Not sure what the wire size was.. I used my dads welder...I just ground down a area for the grounding clamp..
Trusty wish you lived closer.. I love doing this stuff..

Dude, that looks almost PRO. I have tried (key word being tried) to do body work and have not been that successful. I'm hoping in the next few years to get a decent welder and take some courses as well as just get some scrap and try different setting to see what works, what doesn't work, and why.

Again great job, better than I could do!

    Looks good Dan! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Bubba, DO NOT use a magnet ground on sheetmetal. It will act like a big heat sink and warp the panel. Trust me. And .025 wire is better for sheet metal.

Nice job, I grew around a body shop and learned quite a few things over the years. I don't think I could have done that good of a job (maybe my impatience has something to do with that /forums/images/icons/confused.gif ). From the pictures it looks straight and clean, like a pro. Once again, nice work.

If she dents them, stuff one where the Sun DON"T Shine! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif LOL! Nah just make her do all the grunt labor and you Stupervize the whole sitiation from start to end....then she'll appreciate all the hard work that it takes to fix metal work and be a little more careful. Just a thought. Or double the bill! LOL! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

I just wish I could get to become a shewheeler, if I could manage that I wouldn't even care about her helping with the truck. It makes kind of hard to find time wheel when insists on going everywhere with me on the weekends, and then complains about the bumps.
