Use a pitman arm puller for the pitman arm. You can get em at the autoparts.

Yep. 12-bolts are REAR axles and don't interchange much with FRONT axles :haha:

However, *front* 10-bolts and Dana 44's are the same from the knuckles out, so the outers, hubs, and brake stuff is interchangeable. 6-lug, 8-lug, is no matter.

Details: they're interchangeable as long as you swap as a set... the brake hoses are different for various years, and the spindles have to match the hub... but if you have the donor axle or get everything past the knuckle, you're good.

I was gonna swap outers on my D44, but then discovered that the 10-bolt I was using as a donor had 4.10:1 gears (I had 3.73:1's before), so I just swapped the whole axle, and then put the flat-top knuckles from my D44 on it. If it wasn't for that, I coulda just torn down the outers and moved them over to switch to 8-lug.

    Make sense?

    No idea. I don't think so; you can check on Kragen's or Napa's web site ... pick a '74 K5 for a 12-bolt and an '85 for a 10-bolt rear.

    OTOH, 14BFF's are cheap ;)
