Still on the way north of Baguio. Our van we all piled into (that had some bad/loose suspension component) that took us to my grandparent's house on March 2nd.

Is there still a lion carved in stone next to the road coming up through a gorge? I was coming from Clark AFB, before the volcano covered it up. Should have been the same direction as Manila. Oh, Marcos had a fancy mansion in Baguio then!
Great photos!!! I have some I never have scanned from there.

View from Willy's house in Mankayan.

Stopping to eat at Willy and Beng's house on the way back to Baguio. Notice the size of my grandpa's belly.

Rain storm that came through. Same basic view an hour later.

    More rain.

Back on the way from Baguio City to my grandparent's house again on March 9th. Stopped at the highest point of the Philippine highway system. We were in a cloud so there was no view. This time we were in a Kia van with decent suspension but no defroster and lots of fog. There were 12 adults and one 4-year old plus all our stuff riding in the van.

Invading the store connected to and owned by Willy and Beng. Stopped for a break from the road trip and bathroom break. (Willy is the cousin of my mom's best friend). His wife gave us Pepsi and food everytime we stopped. This time it was Pineapple pie and some really tasty muffins/bread.

Back at my grandparents house in Gitlangan. Cooking in preparation for a big meal for all the family and most of the town. Send-off get-together for my aunt, uncle and their youngest daughter that were leaving home and coming back with us to the United States. This is when 2 pigs including the one pictured before became dinner.

That 747 belongs to Qantas Airlines (Australia). Registration is VH-OEJ. It's called "Wunuala Dreaming"; apparently it's some kind of Aboriginal art. That airplane is literally world-famous... Google the name or registration and see how many hits come up.

I was recently informed that this is my rice field. I don't consider it mine because I didn't pay for it. But it's a piece of land my mom purchased and had put under my name years ago. As you can probably tell, it's a good thing that it has crops on it and I don't have a truck on swampers or boggers over there.

I love these plants and remember them from when I was a kid and we went there. You touch them and they close up.

    This is the family's "car".

    The pet.

Me with most of my family over there. probably half of us all are in the picture. Some were unable to be there for the picture... some didn't want to be in a picture, and others in the family aren't in good terms with us.

The mountain that my mom was born on. My grandparents used to live in the small village at the top, but now live down just below.

My cousin Cynthia with one of the ladies sorting out sand from the riverbed to be sold for use in concrete.
