So, I'm out having a smoke this morning and wandering around my truck and enjoying the warmth of the sun...it's been very nice here the last week or so. As I'm standing there waking up and getting my nicotine fix I see what look like trail pinstriping all over my front drivers fender and the drivers box side.

All these scratch marks are confusing me for a couple of reasons. Number one is the drivers side got completely repainted just before Blazer Bash '03, number two, I haven't had the chance to do any other wheeling since then, and number three, I just washed the pig a couple of days ago inside and out and the drivers side was just fine.

I'm pretty confused by this...I thought only nice paint got keyed. My $1.49 flat black paint job can be easily touched up (if I cared enough). So what exactly was the point? Was it so dark that whoever keyed it couldn't tell it was a rattle can paint job?

Anyways, it was so bizarre I had to share. I'm mostly ticked that someone was messing with my junk last night. The damage is laughable at best...

That sucks, but look at the bright side, it could have been the wife's ride. It still amazes me how stupid and inconsiderate people can be. I kinda know how you feel, my 78 was broken into (nice paint) using a prybar to pry out the lock. The funny part was the damage wasn't what pissed me off the most, it was the fact that somebody actually would break into it.....

P.S. I have some spare flat black if you need it /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I'm sure everyone here knows what trail pinstriping looks like. The keyed marks on the drivers side go up, down, wierd angles etc etc. The passenger side, which does have trail marks, all the lines run straight down the length of the truck.

I don't mind scratches...I just prefer to be the one putting them on my truck.

Mine got keyed when I was in high school, I was friggin' pissed but oh well, it will be painted in a few months anyway. Luckely you don't have an expensive paint job.

Some people are such jackasses/forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif. I had some guy put a BB through my windshield back when I was in college just for the hell of it. Man I was pissed. I screamed and bitched and ranted in front of his house until the cops showed up. They took a report, but nothing ever came of it. Good thing for insurance.

I once thought one of our work trucks got keyed...who the hell would want to key a rusty flatbed cab? Well the scratches were odd up and down and sometimes circular. Eventually we figured it was from my wallet chain and keys scratching the paint when I would lean back against the door or over the fender to check the engine.

A few months ago I went to Walmart with a friend. When we were heading back to his truck we seen a car pull in next to it and the cars rear view mirror scratched the side. Then the car pulled out (making more scratches) and then parked on the other side of the truck. All this happened right in front of us. Lonng story short, Donny got arrested cause he hit the guy numerous times. The other guy didnt get in no trouble cause he didnt technically leave the scene.

I've never been keyed but I almost took the blame for somebody else's key job last winter.

My wife and I went to the movies and when we came back out some guy says to me "Hey buddy, we gotta talk" in a real pissed off kinda voice.
I get all defensive thinkin I'm gonna get punched or something, so the guy flashes a state trooper's badge at me. He then tells me he found a note on his windshield sayin that the guy parked next to him keyed his toyota landcruiser SUV thingy. He figures its gotta be me since I'm parked next to him and I got defensive when we yelled at me. But he wasn't even parked next to me when we went into the movies, I remember cause I looked at the other cars around me when I went in so I could find the wife's tiny cavalier when we came back out. There was a little escort in his spot when we went in.

I looked at the toyota and its keyed from the drivers side headlight to the taillight about waist high. Whover did it was pissed at him, not just playin a prank.
So he says he's gonna call the cops and file a report cause he already knows my name and address( must have called abuddy to run the plates) and he wanted to see my drivers license but I told him to get bent. I asked him to see the note and he said no.

We talked, loudly, for a few minutes while the wife tries to get me to just give in and eventually he gives me 2 options:
    1) do the "right thing" and take care of it when he sends me the bill

    2) stand around in a parking lot at midnight waiting for the cops to file a report, ask for witnesses, check security cameras, blah blah blah blah.

So I tell him, "OK I'll do the right thing" and we leave.

Got an estimate in the mail a couple weeks later, $1500 to repaint the entire drivers side. Got 1 phone call I told him I didn't do it, never hreard from him again. I guess I did the right thing.

I figure it had been keyed before and he was tryin to make some $$ off me, who knows. It was kinda fishy cause the body shop he sent the bill from was in a town 90 minutes away and the envelope had a PO box for a return address.

That experience was far worse than getting keyed, I kinda felt sorry for the guy if he was just yellin at me cause he had the wrong guy. Oh well, thats why you carry insurance.

No, it's because they know that a Canadian won't come out with a gun and come after them because they're not allowed in Canada.

If someone ever messed with my truck they would leave my property on a stretcher, probably with a sheet covering what was left of them after a half dozen 3 1/2" BBBs.
