I have to turn off the image tags that you use in the main post, I have a major Bandwidth problem. Any post from now on will see the text of the URL with no pic.

Oh ok, so that's why that pic I tried to post just 30 secs ago didn't work...we'll do whatever we can do deal with the bandwidth problem.

I'll take the pic out from my sig after this post.

You can still use the url tag to map to an image (<A target="_blank" HREF=http://coloradok5.com/logo.jpg>http://coloradok5.com/logo.jpg</A>), just can't display it inline.

    Steve,

you otta let your members donate to help with the situation...

If you don't mind my asking I'm currious how much the bandwidth issues are costing per month??? I'm sure we can band together to help with this situation.

quite frankly you'd be robbing each one of us the opportunity to help if we would like to.

I still think maybe the membership if you want to use pics would be a good alternative... but don't know how much BW we're talking about for what kinda cash. COME ON GUYS... LET'S TRY AND GET STEVE SOME ADVERTISERS!!!

Do the smileys and pic in the profile/under your name still work like on your'e steve?

    another thought on this...

if you were to let use donate, and our donations covered the expenses for the extra bandwidth then we should get the tags turned back on, and if not then they would be turned off...

I agree we'll all still be here, and nobody can blame you for turning them off. However, if we can pull together as a group we should have an option here.

Maybe we can have a metter somewhere that would determine if donations met the bandwith costs...

Thanks for the donation Solo that helped a lot, my host projected a 300.00 bandwidth bill just for this month on top of the normal fees, so I need to act fast.

Myself and Mrs. CK5 are going to adopt an infant baby boy and on top of the adoption charges, I just found out that day care will be over 800.00 per month (normal price here) and Friday I will find out if I get layed-off from work or not and then I get an email from my host saying the projected bandwidth usage will be around 300.00 this month. I'm almost laughing right now just thinking about it. [IMG] But, hey, I have my health damn it!!!

hey, first of all congradulations on the adoption. you know that what all this life stuff is all about anyway. congradulations.

hey man, you get in a $$$ problem, and this is a family... if nobody esle helps out then I will pay your bandwidth bills.

be glad to. you've given us all a great asset. we should pitch in. you've put a LOT of hard work into this and that has got to be worth something to everybody here (I know it has been to me)...

didn't know if you'd figure out where that donation came from... LOL [IMG] I'm glad you're using it, and there'll be another in the mail tomorrow...

I gotta LOT of influential contacts so if you do loose your job give me a call. maybe your CK5ers can help float you if something does happen, and help you find something if you need it... remember what comes around goes around.

I'm sure we've all had help through out our lives in someway or another so let all get together and help Steve out!

(I hope you don't mind this, if you do I still don't feel bad LOL...)

    Steve-
I'll forget about the 2 lunches you owe me if that would help you out... [IMG]

$300 bandwidth fee! Damn! I'd flip if I got a bill like that. I'll try to help anyway I can but I refuse to babysit.[IMG]

Congrats again on the new little family member. Carol and I still have some infant toys if you'd be interested.

<font color=purple> Steve, what other things can we do ? Would it help if you eliminated some of the smaller less used sections or is it just a volume of people deal ? If we backed down on the other areas a bit would it help ? I'm just grasping at straws here, but would like to help any way I can........... I don't want to see you struggle without us giving some aid in one way or another, tell us what you need .......... Please !

Congrats on your new family member and you're in my prayers that you don't get laid off and all goes well !

You've been so generous to all of us by giving us this forum, now let us give something back to you.............. I'd gladly pay a membership fee !!!!!!!!

The images must take a huge slice of the bandwidth pie. Think if you put a restriction on the size of the images served that it'd help?? I know some people are putting fullsize 640x480 images in their sigs. Those things are huge filesizes. Anyway images could be served from a different server? I dunno. Basically the heart and soul of this webpage is the information passed to and fro in the forums. While the images are fun to look at, the text is more important. Definately not fair that you get stuck with a bill for all of our benefit. I'm sure enough of us are willing top pitch in to keep this place alive and kickin'. Hell, if it weren't for this forum, I might actually get work done. hah!

Steve, can we shut down the readers rides? Most of the pictures are way to big. You can delete mine at any time. I can't get in it to change it.
As for a little help, I'm there! Mind if I order a $100.00 CK5 sticker? (just one).
Congrads on the new little one. I'm still waiting for you and Shawn to get together with me some time.
As for my posts, I'm droping the pictures for now. Hang in there.

don't go out for that pizza and send him the $20.00 instead and then Steve won't have to worry about any of this!

    <font color=red>CLICK ON THE BANNERS!!!
    CLICK ON THE BANNERS!!!<font color=black>

I have no idea how much revenue this gets for Steve, but at least it's something! Plus, if we can show that CK5.com gets lots of advertising hits on banners, maybe other sponsors will step in with more $$$.
It's not really that hard. Right-click the banner, open it in a new window, then minimize it if you're not really interested in the product or service being advertised. Once the ad page is loaded, close it and move on to the next one. I've been doing this on every visit to CK5 since Steve said that he does get revenue from banner hits. If everyone who regularly visits this site clicks a banner or three each visit, I'm sure it'll help Steve with the bills. So get clicking!

    <font color=red>Click those banners and help support CK5!!<font color=black>

Steve, you do what you have to do. Your wife and family come first. I will order the stickers and t-shirts for the Blazer-fest soon. And I will donate them to the Blazer-fest in your name. When do you think you will have the shirts........Dan

Yeah, the images are killing us, I just deleted anything over 50K in the readers section and turned off the inline pics in the main body of the posts, you can still use the url tag to link to the same image like this <A target="_blank" HREF=http://coloradok5.com/logo.jpg>http://coloradok5.com/logo.jpg</A>

This might do it, I will monitor it for awhile, just keep trimming the fat so to speak.

Just an FYI, the message forums are where all the bandwidth is coming from, the rest of the site is very small.
