speedo bouncing

    My speedometer bounces from start until about 50 mph or so then its fine, any fix for this problem?

    I think I remember reading that lubing the speedo cable will take care of this. Sounds like it is binding.

    mine does this also just unscrew it at the tranny and pull the cable out. put some grease on your fingers and smear it on the cable as you push it back into the caseing. I do it about once every 2 months. hope this helped.[​IMG]

    Check to see if the gear is starting to strip out also. Then you'll need to replace the cable.

    1984 K-5
    4" lift
    35x12.5 MTs
    buildin a 400 for it, any info greatly appreciated

    Pull cable. Holding the cable sheathing with one hand, (so the speedo cable makes "U") and the speedo cable with the other hand, spin it. If the sheathing "flops around" then the cable itself is bad. You can always lube the cable (not graphite lube) but the speedo itself can be bad.
