    Easy--call Jeg's, get a Lock-Right, and pop it in.

FYI, there is one bolt that is very very important, I call it the "cross shaft retaining bolt".
Make sure you understand the perpuse of that bolt.
Tip...... make sure you use the right tool to remove it, and for future use try to measure the tighten torque.
    Good luck

It's very simple to change them. The question is why are you changing them? If they're damaged, there's a 99.999% chance so is the ring and pinion.

When I bought it I was told the gears were new I knew the guy
real well so I'm pretty sure they are . the reason for replacement is when parking on a incline and taking my foot
off the brake it rolls foward and I here a nasty "clunk" for lack of a better word and I can feel it in the floor. I took it to a guy that has rebuilt axels for a long time and he said that it was the spider gears.

Pull the cover off and take a close look at all the gears. They shouldn't be pitted or scarred. The diff oil probably needs changed anyway. If there's dirt in the diff or the oil is light brown, the axle seals are bad. You can do this inspection very easily, without disassembling anything. It may not be in the rear end. Sounds like the parking pawl in the tranny if it's an auto.
