Will the spider gears out of a regular D44 fit into a D44 HD IFS out of an 87 ford f250? My stepdad has a set of busted up spider gears and is having a hard time finding a replacement. Anybody know where to look even?

    Thanks

As far as I know, the F250 "Heavy-Duty" has a Dana 50 instead of a Dana 44. The front hubs are bigger/fatter (like Dana 60) if it is.

As far as I know, a D50 is a D44 in a D60 housing so they should still fit.

Its a D44-HD-IFS, as best I can tell. It isn't the regular 44-IFS axle that ford used, and the 50 isn't one of those stupid IFS axles like the 44 is. I went to the local "chevy man's" house today and we dug a diff out of a regular D44 from a chevy and it looks as if the spider gears will work. Won't find out until we try to put them in tomorrow.

Dana 50's were TTB from '80 to '98. Both the 44 and 50 were used in F250's. Both were leaf-sprung. Very little (if anything) interchanges. The 50 ring gear measures 9" vs. 8.5" for the 44. I can't say if the spiders are the same from a 44 to a 50. If you do your homework, there shouldn't be any surprises.

    The Dana 50 became a solid-axle for '99 in the new SuperDuty's.
