Well it's alive, check out the video link I took this weekend.

It's only 30 seconds long, but you can get an idea.

    Here it is.

    Funbuggy in action!!

That thing is sooooo nasty. I love it. It can crawl rock and it can haul some gas. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Thanks for the ride Marv. It was awesome. It rides like a Caddy and if the thing could get enough traction it would qualify as a land missle. It is fast, real fast. You almost have to go to church after riding in that thing, it makes you a believer really quick. Marv has a killer toy in that thing and I can't imagine that amount of fun it is going to inspire now that all the hard work has paid off. Good work Marv. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

For those of you curious about the shock/shock setup.... well - so far, so good! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif It's really not fair to evaluate it yet, as it only has 1 trip on it...

I wish I'd done it w/ adjustables, tho... Prolly will try again w/ some RS9000's. Oh... and I think it's mandatory to make a "double swiveling" axle mount so that no bending is introduced.

I just had to build one of those for mine. After moving the front axle forward (AGAIN) it caused a bind that nearly broke the loop off.

You bet! We will be off work for the middle weekend we are there. There is a post in your Az forum. I am totally looking forward to getting a chance to get a ride in some real rock crawling. There may be 2 or 3 of us that would be interested in a ride along, if its doable.
    That would sure be awesome!
I will get some phone numbers a little later on for contacts and details.
    Catch ya later

    jek,

Because they were more aggressive than BFG A/T's /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif...

I have a habit of running less agressive tires. These were of the size and shape that I wanted.... and so I got 'em! I may take a groover to them someday, but for now they'll do.

There are several ways to do it, but Marv's is pretty cool. I was down there to help put one of them together. He took a pair of shocks (5012s?) and cut the eyes off the rods. He had a collar made out of what looked like solid round cold roll about 1" in diameter with machined hole in the center. This is the coupler between the shocks. The hole was sized for a tight interference fit with the shock piston rod. This coupler was then heated red hot with a torch by Marv. IIRC, Rob had one shock, I had the other, and Marv had the coupler and the rods were fully extended. We shoved them all together very quickly before they could “stick”. Then others poured water on the rods down near the bodies to keep from heat damaging the seals. It was a pretty cool little production and I’m interested to see how well it works out. I was a bit worried about the 5012 upside down (I’ve heard they can aerate like that) and the couplers ability to hold that shaft in places like the dunes. That’s all I know, Marv will likely elaborate when he checks in…
