Most likely you do, and if you visit the Pirate board you definately do.

I downloaded one of the programs and was suprised to find 64 of these spyware programs in my systems.
It took me about 15 minutes to download and remove these.

What do these "spyware" programs do? I have visited Pirate, but never signed up or downloaded anything. I also have a program that kills popups so most of the popups on Pirate never show up.

Funny, most of what I find is porn sites too yet I don't visit those so I wish I could figure out why I get that crap...? I guess they attach stuff to non porn looking links just for people like me to click them then they can get them this other way..... it seems all the email I get that is junk is porn related and it's making me irrate. I wish I could stop that but I can't.... I have over 500 emails and domains blocked out and it still filters in!! /forums/images/icons/mad.gif

Spyware is basicaly a piece of software that collects information about you, your web usage, and computer usage, then sends it to a company along with your eMail address, and they directly market crap to you via Uuber forced Spaming of Doom. most of the spyware is in the form of Cookies, that your browser automaticaly check and update on loadup. others are programs, such as a background program I found on my comptuer called `Webhancer' I figgured it was a stupid microsoft program to try and make the web work better, but became irrationaly angry when I checked the readme, and it specificaly said `to collect data on computer usage, and web traffic'

everyone's prolly got several of them on thier computers.

I was wonderring the same thing.
I was thinking of setting up another e-mail account.
But these spyware programs are like telemarketers, once you are on the list it just keeps on.
The pirate board has the double click cookie, which is a spyware program.
It then gives out your info to all the spam crap.
These programs do not have personal info but they do relay what you are doing on the internet to the host program.
What sites you visit , what you buy online ETC.
Logging onto the pirate board will install a spyware program with out you even knowing it is there.

Check this out, it defines spyware and offers a very nice program to handle it. This guy writes some good code.
