I am about to get a k5 for my first car, and i am looking at restoring it and putting in a nice stereo. Im sorta on a budget as the look of the car is more important at first, but what are you recommendations for a good stereo. i want good sound quality and nice bass, enough power to here it with the top off. I am looking at sony explode line, my friend has some of it and it sounds pretty good i guess, but i really know nothing about car stereos at all, so what are you suggestions for anything and everything from position to cost to head units to boxes to tweeters, tyhanks

for starters... you could get the best amp, speakers, crossovers, etc. but if you go cheap on the radio then it is all for nothing.. get a good quality radio is a good starting point..I myself like alpine radios... then look into a good quality set of mids and highs.... as for sony xplode line... some like it and some dont.... i prefer higher end setups but they sound good... seem to work good... and have heard alot of good about them... just remember... dont go to cheap on the radio.. it is the key to everything.... (If the source sound is bad then nothing you can do to make it sound better)

I had a Pioneer unit and loved it until a thief loved it more and took it... it was great though. Never skipped even when it was being bounced all over the place... sounded great too! I refer everyone to this guy on eBay (no I don't get paid for it!) Scala1. I have bought from him and he is great. Good prices and a good dealer.... check him out! [IMG]
