steering arm studs or bolts?

    is it ok to use bolts with the cone washers for the steering arm or is that not a good idea? thanks Chris

    <font color="green"> I'd say it's a bad idea. They used studs for a reason, and steering is not something to half-ass. </font color>

    When I made my X-over steering arm spacer, I went to Grade 8 bolts with lock washers and locktite....maybe overkill but I wasn't sure. After many hours on the highway and several wheelin trips, I have yet to have one of the three bolts loosen up. Seems to be working out just fine.

    Studs are preferable if you can use them. If you can't get a stud long enough, bolts can work. They basically do the same thing but the studs will have a bit bigger shank and the friction surface is nut to stud, not bolt to knuckle.
