i just recently had my sector shaft out to inspect it because of some steering problems and there is a bold that is a allen key on the top of the steering box cap with a jam nut that goes over it and i was wondering on how to adjust that i was told to turn it until it was tight and then back it off a half a turn to adjust the vertical play in the sector shaft is that true??

you tighten it a quarter turn at a time until you can feel the steereing start to tighten up in the middle of the turning arch or where your tire are about straight, and then back it off just a little than tighten the locknut down.
