I have a 77 K5 4x4 with a tired steering box. I have called around asking local wrecking yards if they have a replacement but they all say that the 77 is too old and they dont have a steering box for it. I dont know much about steering stuff yet, still learning. So here is my question.

    1) Are the steering boxes pretty much interchangeable / can I put any old steering box on my 77?

    2) what should I expect to pay for a used steering box?

    3) anything else I need to consider while replaceing my steering box? Note: I already have a bolt in ORD steering brace installed.

Im not 100% sure about the year, but I think in 1980 they changed from an o-ring style line to a flared line. You either need to find a pre 80 steering box or you can buy new lines and get a 80 and up box.
