Ok Im fixing my tilt column on my 85. I have gotten to the pint where I can pull the plastic cover off but I cant get the wires that are connected to the signals to budge any suggestions? They did make them long enough in order to move the column right? I had a mechanic in town fix it last year but its loose again.

Yeah, sounds like you made it too the (PINT) LOL, try doing a search or going to dyeager's (Dorian) web site he has a complete rebuild of a tilt don't know about the year though hope this helps...

Try disconnecting the wiring harness on the steering column under the dash. this should allow you to pull the harness up about an inch or so. Have fun! There is no easy way to fix that other than finding a whole new column.

It is just as much fun to build it as it is to bash it
